01 | Strategy & Vision
Honor, founded in 2015, is a unicorn startup that is revolutionizing the home care industry by building a platform that connects professional caregivers with families looking for quality home care.
First as a Design Lead for the initial launch, later as Head of Product Design & UX Research, I collaborated with the Executive team to shape and visualize our product vision and inspired the org for the road ahead.
Reduce stress and free up time by hiring someone to reliably provide safety, security and well-being for a loved one.
~80% of service is managed by a loved one.
And to deliver on this mission, we need to leverage the best of technology and the best of human interaction in care delivery operations.
02 | Team leadership
In 2023, Honor's product development org doubled in size. Moving from a small, in-office culture to a much larger, remote culture was difficult, on top of having so many new folks. I proposed and led an effort to establish formal product principles to drive clarity on what we value and empower the team to best deliver on our strategy and goals.
I surveyed the broad org to identify our gaps in alignment and understanding as a team, ran a design sprint with product leadership to align on 3 core principles and definitions, and finalized the documents and embedded them into our team rituals (stand-ups, all-hands, slack etc). These principles became a cornerstone for Honor's product culture and are still in place today.
Push for radical change with the product solutions you develop, to truly transform the aging experience.
Be bold in how you leverage technology to solve the biggest business or user needs. Explore the art of the possible, utilizing creativity and advanced technologies.
Take risks, and learn from being proven wrong.
Proactively seek out opportunities to drive us toward our goals.
Be curious. Stay deeply connected to the core problems of the business and users beyond just your project work.
Map problem spaces end to end before moving to solutions. Make sure you understand why now, what we know and do not yet know.
People’s security and well-being comes first.
Be deliberate in what users experience on our platform. Design for ease of use and simplicity, build for increased trust and confidence, and ship complete features no matter the size.
Be relentless in measuring the impact of your work. The goal isn’t to ship solutions, it’s to create the best possible outcomes for our users and the business.
Voraciously seek feedback on your work from all levels of the organization.
Honor’s operations relied heavily on human experts supported by advanced tools, but scaling exposed critical inefficiencies. To solve this, we radically transformed our staffing model with Market Planner, an ML-powered tool that shifted staffing from manual 1:1 client to caregiver matching to market-level recommended staffing plans, solving not only efficiency but also staffing quality at scale.
As Head of Product Design and UX Research, I supported the solo Product Design Lead in designing and testing our new staffing approach—from joining field research and pilot operations to jamming in Figma on early prototypes and MVP refinement. Post-launch Market Planner reduced time to staff by 35%, quadrupled shift acceptance rates, and enabled market-wide staffing plans in under 15 minutes.
Family Sage is a pre-seed startup offering a mobile platform specifically built for family caregivers to foster connection, share insights, and provide professional support to increase success and balance as a caregiver.
As a Design Consultant, I partnered with a solo founder/CEO to design the end-to-end mobile experience, marketing site, and social ads for beta launch, achieving a $5/download acquisition cost and a 71% onboarding completion rate.
